COVID-19 vaccination to be incorporated into national immunisation schedules
7 October 2026
Updated COVID-19 Vaccines Available from 12 October 2026
From 12 October 2026, COVID-19 vaccination will be included in the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule (NCIS) and National Adult Immunisation Schedule (NAIS). Concurrently, updated COVID-19 vaccines – namely, XFG Moderna/Spikevax and XFG Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty – will be rolled out at more than 600 General Practitioner (GP) clinics, all polyclinics, and Mobile Vaccination Teams (MVT) sites deployed across the island.
Incorporation into the National Immunisation Schedules
COVID-19 vaccination has been offered under the National Vaccination Programme (NVP) since 2020 to facilitate uptake of the vaccine during the pandemic. As COVID-19 will continue to circulate and pose a risk of severe disease, particularly among older and medically vulnerable individuals, COVID-19 vaccination will be added to the NCIS and NAIS to ensure the vaccine remains accessible and affordable for the public.
The recommended groups for COVID-19 vaccination under the NCIS/NAIS are:
Individuals aged 60 years and above;
Medically vulnerable individuals aged 6 months and above; and
Residents of aged care facilities.
Additionally, healthcare workers and persons living or working with medically vulnerable individuals are encouraged to receive the vaccine to help protect those around them. Other individuals aged 6 months and above who wish to receive the COVID-19 vaccine may continue to do so. Individuals may consider consulting their doctor to understand more about the benefits of the vaccine for their specific situation.
Unvaccinated individuals who are receiving COVID-19 vaccination for the first time should receive:
Two vaccine doses, eight weeks apart if they are 6 months to 4 years; and
One vaccine dose if they are 5 years and older.
For those aged 6 months and above who have previously been vaccinated, an additional dose should be received around one year (and at least five months) after their last vaccine dose.
For the updated NCIS and NAIS, please refer to Annexes A and B.
COVID-19 vaccination continues to be fully subsidised for Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, Long Term Pass Holders, and certain Short Term Pass Holders at participating CHAS GP clinics, polyclinics and MVT sites, until further review. As such, COVID-19 vaccinations will not be claimable under MediSave 500/700 (or the MediSave Chronic and Preventive Care scheme from 1 January 2027) until further review.
Rollout of Updated COVID-19 Vaccines
The updated XFG Moderna/Spikevax and XFG Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty formulations, approved by the Health Sciences Authority, provide better protection against current and emerging strains of COVID-19. Their safety profiles are comparable to those of previous versions. All vaccination locations offering the Moderna/Spikevax and/or Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccines will begin administering the updated vaccines according to the following timelines:
From 12 October 2026: Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty for individuals aged 12 years and above, and Moderna/Spikevax for individuals aged 6 months and above; and
From 2 November 2026: Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty for individuals aged 6 months to 11 years.
Getting Vaccinated
Appointments at participating GP clinics can be booked at https://vaccine.gov.sg/covid (opens in new tab). Please contact the GP clinic to confirm vaccine availability before visiting. Appointments at polyclinics can be booked through HealthHub. Healthier SG enrollees are encouraged to visit their enrolled clinic for vaccination if the clinic offers COVID-19 vaccination.
MVTs offering the COVID-19 vaccines will continue to be deployed across the island to bring vaccination services closer to seniors and residents of aged care facilities. Members of the public may visit https://go.gov.sg/mvt-s (opens in new tab) for the latest schedule.
COVID-19 waves will continue to occur from time to time and can cause severe disease among those who are older or medically vulnerable. We strongly encourage individuals in the recommended groups to stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination, to better protect themselves and those around them.
