JN.1 Novavax/Nuvaxovid Covid-19 vaccine available under National Vaccination Programme
30 December 2025
From 2 January 2026 to 31 May 2026, the JN.1 Novavax/Nuvaxovid COVID-19 vaccine will be available at selected General Practitioner (GP) clinics under the National Vaccination Programme (NVP). This follows the Health Sciences Authority’s approval of the use of the JN.1 Novavax/Nuvaxovid COVID-19 vaccine in Singapore for individuals aged 12 years and above.
The JN.1 Novavax/Nuvaxovid vaccine is an alternative to the LP.8.1 mRNA vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty and Moderna/Spikevax) rolled out in October 2025. Both vaccine strains are expected to confer additional protection against severe disease.
Individuals who have not received an additional dose of COVID-19 vaccination in the past 12 months, including those who have received the JN.1 vaccine in 2024/2025 (Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty, Moderna/Spikevax or Novavax/Nuvaxovid) and wish to receive the JN.1 Novavax/Nuvaxovid vaccine for 2025/2026 may do so as immunity to the virus may decrease over time and an additional dose in 2025/2026 can increase protection against severe disease. Individuals receiving the JN.1 Novavax/Nuvaxovid as an additional dose should do so around one year (and at least five months) from the last vaccine dose.
As the JN.1 vaccine formulation will no longer be supplied by the manufacturer once the current stocks expire, eligible individuals who wish to receive the JN.1 Novavax/Nuvaxovid vaccine will have to do so by 31 May 2026. Thereafter Novavax/Nuvaxovid will not be available under the NVP. The LP.8.1 mRNA vaccines will continue to be offered.
Individuals who wish to book an appointment at a participating GP clinic offering the JN.1 Novavax/Nuvaxovid vaccine may do so through https://vaccine.gov.sg/covid from 2 January 2026. Healthier SG enrollees are encouraged to visit their enrolled clinic for vaccination, if the clinic offers COVID-19 vaccination.
COVID-19 vaccination continues to be free for all eligible individuals[1] under the NVP. Members of the public can visit https://gowhere.gov.sg/vaccine for the nearest vaccination sites and the vaccine types offered.
COVID-19 waves will continue to occur from time to time and can cause severe disease among those who are older or medically vulnerable. To increase their protection against severe disease, we encourage everyone, especially those aged 60 years and above, medically vulnerable individuals or residents of aged care facilities to remain updated with their vaccination based on the prevailing recommendations, much like vaccination against influenza.
